Counselor Training


NID-HCA will not be holding an Annual Recertification Training this year. Last year we moved to having three-year counselor certifications; therefore annual recertification is no longer necessary.

We will be holding a NID-HCA Training at the NAREB National Convention,
August 6, 2008, 9:AM to 5:PM, in Memphis, TN, on Loss Mitigation Services.

The training will cover loss mitigation strategies, short sells, loan alternatives, foreclosure assistance resources and information on how the new foreclosure intervention legislation can assist counselors, their clients, communities and owners and sellers of REO properties. The training will also include "HOPE Now Alliance Loss Mitigation Fee for Service Guidelines" for NID-HCA Loss Mitigation Counselors.

The training is designed to equip counselors with tips on how to access resources to effectively grow your housing counseling services. There will also be a brief overview of how to become a certified counselor. Upon completion of the training, participants who are not currently NID-HCA Certified Counselors must submit an application, along with a resume for approval as NID-HCA Loss Mitigation Advisor. The criteria for approval is as follows:

  • Current active real estate license in good standing
  • Experience in providing housing related education workshops, seminars (indicated on resume’)
  • Active community involvement (indicated on resume’)
  • Current related coursework in the areas of housing counseling, real estate education provider (indicated on resume”)
